Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for free technical assistance?

Any grassroots conservation organization, municipality, school or individual working toward protecting or enhancing their watershed is eligible to receive assistance. Because everyone lives in a watershed, it is important that people have an understanding of how watersheds work and how human beings impact water quality. You don’t have to be a member of a watershed group to improve or protect water quality. Simply by having a basic understanding of the dynamics of watersheds, you too can make a difference.

How much does it cost for technical assistance?

There is no cost to qualified organizations for our technical assistance. Costs to provide assistance are paid through a Pennsylvania Growing Greener grant, a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, as well as matching funds provided by Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.

Is there a waiting list for help?

Assistance is granted to organizations on a first-come, first-served basis. To date, the Watershed Conservation Program has had no difficulty meeting the demand for its services in a timely manner.

In which areas and watersheds do you work?

Although Western Pennsylvania Conservancy is focused largely on areas depicted on the organization’s Conservation Blueprint for Pennsylvania, the Watershed Conservation Program is dedicated to assisting all interested groups or individuals with watershed-related issues as well as providing education.
