WPC’s Community Gardens and Greenspace Program implements a variety of greening strategies throughout the region, partnering with neighbors, funders and volunteers to ensure healthier environments for all to enjoy.
WPC works with more than 13,000 volunteers in 20 counties to plant community flower gardens. WPC is the managing partner of TreeVitalize Pittsburgh, with a current goal of planting more than 20,000 trees along our streets and in our parks. WPC beautifies downtown with planters and hanging baskets and other greening initiatives. The School Grounds Greening project added green playspace and outdoor classrooms to Pittsburgh Public Schools to improve student access to nature. In addition, we work with communities to identify and implement greening strategies of all types.
