Mark your calendar: WPC’s World Environment Day Events
Pittsburgh will celebrate its designation as North American host city for World Environment Day with six weeks of special events, beginning on Earth Day, April 22 through World Environment Day, June 5.
The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy will host two special World Environment Day events on May 5 and May 21. Mark your calendars and plan to spend a few hours learning about and celebrating our region’s progress in greening our communities and restoring our rivers and streams.
TreeVitalize Rally
WHAT: Tree planting and seedling giveaway, with music and special activities, to celebrate the planting of 250 trees in downtown Pittsburgh with funding from the Colcom Foundation. Held in honor of World Environment Day, this event promotes the importance of urban trees.

Water Matters! Local Water Quality Summit
WHAT: Pittsburgh has chosen “Water Matters!” as its theme for World Environment Day 2010. WPC will host a special session for members and media representatives that charts our region’s successes, and assesses current risks and threats, in restoring and safeguarding our water resources. Light refreshments will be served.
