August Volunteer Work Day
On Saturday, August 21, the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy will host a volunteer workday at our Beaver Creek Property in Fayette County, just south of Ohiopyle State Park. Volunteers will help WPC staff members remove invasive plants and will participate in a general cleanup of the area. We will meet at the property at 10:00 a.m., and work until around 3:00. Of course, volunteers are welcome to come and go as they please.
There will be an additional workday on September 18 in Bedford County. For more information about either work day, or to learn more about WPC volunteer work days, contact our Easement and Land Stewardship Coordinator, Andy Zadnick, at 412-586-2318 or azadnik@paconserve.org.
Directions to Beaver Creek: Take the PA Turnpike to the Donegal Exit. Turn left, following signs towards Fallingwater and Ohiopyle. Turn right onto Rt. 711/381, heading south. Continue to Normalville, and turn left to stay on 381 South. Follow 381 past Bear Run/Fallingwater and into Ohiopyle. Just past Ohiopyle, turn left onto Dinnerbell Road (SR 2011). Follow that road just over four miles, and turn left onto Beaver Creek Rd. (T381). After about ¼ mile, look for WPC property signs on both sides of the road. Continue to a fenced compound (a municipal water well) on the right. We’ll meet there.
